The 2010 Pterodactyl Roost

The 2010 Roost will take place in Jacksonville November 4, 5, 6, 7, when we salute the men and women of the Coast Guard Helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron (HITRON). A true squadron, HITRON Jacksonville concept of Operations is to forward deploy armed helicopters to high threat drug trafficking and high risk security areas.

The Roost Headquarters will be the Hyatt Regency Riverfront Hotel located in Downtown Jacksonville. Downtown is purposely capitalized to reflect a true urban renaissance. The picturesque St. Johns River runs through the heart of Downtown. A Riverwalk has been constructed on both banks of the river complete with marine amenities and green spaces. Urban walk ability has been stressed and is supplemented by two trolley routes, a monorail and water taxis to cross the river. One can also cross the river using the Main Street Bridge which is designed to accommodate pedestrian traffic There is going to be much to do and we are planning a fun time for all.

It has been asked—Why November 4,5,6,7? September is HOT! October hurricanes have a habit of hitting Central Florida , exiting over Jacksonville and then proceeding up the East Coast. The first week of November is quite pleasant. The average temperature is listed as a high of 77 degrees and a low of 58 degrees.
